Russian soprano Elena Gorshunova started her career at the Mariinsky Theatre where she debuted as Naiade in Ariadne auf Naxos in 2002. Since 2010 she has been soloist at the Saxonian State Opera “Semperoper” in Dresden, first as an ensemble member and since 2013 a permanent guest. Her repertoire at the Semperoper includes Gilda, Konstanze, Susanna, Pamina, Ilia, Servilia, Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Cleopatra, Musetta, Ninetta (La gazza ladra). Her signature role Gilda has led her to the Hamburger Staatsoper, Riga International Opera Festival, National Theatre Tokyo, Oper Leipzig and Teatr Wielki Opera Narodowa in Warsaw. Konstanze is another important role which Elena has performed at various theatres including the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, Angers-Nantes Opéra, and in 2017 she will perform it at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples. Her vast repertoire also include Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Catherine (La Jolie Fille de Perth), Contessa di Folleville and Corinna (Il viaggio a Reims), Eudoxie (La Juive), Giulietta (I Capuleti e I Montecchi) and Elvira (I Puritani).
In addition she has performed at opera houses in Bern, Dortmund, Antwerpen, Freiburg, Washington, Reims, Nancy, Toulouse, Nizza, Bordeaux, Marseille and Montpellier.
Elena has received several prizes at vocal competitions including 1st prize at the Anneliese Rothenberger Competition 2005 and the Rimsky-Korsakov Competition 2004. She was a finalist at the Operalia competition in Valencia 2006.
